A Walk Down Memory Lane

Hello Lovelies,

Here’s page 72! It was a fun one to draw and paint out. Hope you like it.

The other day I was taking a walk down memory lane, and I recalled a very special dinner and tournament I went to as a child. Of course I’m talking about Medieval Times. I came across a behind the scenes clip. Hope it gives you a smile!

By the next upload, which will be in two weeks on Tuesday, August 21st, I will have taken my first big test. Can’t wait to slay this academic adversary. Wish me luck!

Cram Time

Hello Lovelies,

Here is your bonus upload for the month. I’m very pleased with how the background people in the first panel turned out. I tried returning to the “blue” technique I used in the prologue, and I think it worked well.

In other news, chapter 13 has been written out! And I should have chapter 14 completed by the end of August. On August 15th, I’m going to take the first of my two big tests. Cram time has officially begun!

The next upload with be in on week on Tuesday, August 7th,

Thanks for the Inspiration

Hello Lovelies,

It’s such a treat to get feedback from you guys. I love learning how individual readers perceive the comic, and what they get out of it.

As the creator, I’m so close to the work that I have a very specific perspective of the story. And when I get to hear what readers are observing, I’m sometimes taken completely aback! Because you guys connect dots that don’t even occur to me, and I love that!!!!

And I’ll tell you a secrete. While I’ve been working on finishing the story’s plot, I’ve been taking inspiration from you guys. A few twists and turns yet to come are inspired by your comments. So, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for reading. Thank you for commenting. And thank you for being you. 🙂

Practice Makes Perfect

Hello Lovelies!

The first version of this page was made on a new type of watercolor paper, and that was a mistake! The way the paper absorbed the paint created this “grainy” visual texture, and the colors were just “off”. I tried to fix it in photoshop, but that resulted in an airbrushed effect, which I thought looked just as bad. So I decided to redo the page using the right paper. Lesson learned.

Since I was going to do a redo, I thought it was a good opportunity to see if there were any changes I could make to improve the page. This line of thinking led me to make several alterations, and I’m very pleased with the second version. I thought it would be fun to share both versions with you. I’m curious if you guys prefer the second version as well. At least I hope so, because it sure took a lot of time to make. I’m still getting used to drawing pages with densely populated backgrounds. People are so much harder to draw then trees. Chapter one and two spoiled me…

December: Weekly Updates & New Patreon Tiers

Hello Lovelies!

I wanted to share that The Archer and the Squirrel should be good to go for weekly updates starting this December. I appreciate your patience with my current updating schedule. Besides making comic pages, writing the story’s plot, and working full time, I’ve also been studying for two job-required tests. This full work load is why I can only update every other week.

Also starting this December, I’ll be adding two new Patreon tiers! Ever since I invested in live stream equipment and a camcorder, I’ve wanted to utilize these technologies to reward Patreon support. As we get closer to December, I’ll release more information about the new tiers and their rewards.

The next update will be Tuesday, July 3ed.

Story Progress

Hello Lovelies,

I’m excited to share that I now have The Archer and the Squirrel written out through chapter 10. And I should have chapters 11 and 12 finished by the end of the month. Although I’m unsure how many total chapters this story will have, I do know where the story will be headed. I’ve been working hard to knock out the plot one chapter at the a time.

Again, I appreciate your patience with the slow updating schedule. With the way things are going, I should be good to go for weekly updates starting December 2018. I wish I could just make this comic full time. The more I write out the story, the more I love this comic. Thank you for reading it. You guys are the best.

The next update will be in two weeks on Tuesday, June 19th.

In Loving Memory

Good morning Lovelies!

Here is your bonus update for the month. This is the first page in the comic I made using my new light box. The light box originally belonged to a family member, and after they passed the light box was gifted to me. This single panel spread is dedicated to the loving memory of Barbara P.

As a treat, I also made a speed painting video of this page. In the future, I’m planning on making more speed painting videos. Hope you guys enjoy it!

The next update will be next week on Tuesday, June 5th.

Flying Home :)

Good Morning Lovelies!

This morning, I’m spending some time in the sky flying home to help family. I don’t know about you guys, but whenever I fly, I always start daydreaming about flying with wings or on a broomstick. Flight ability is one of my top supper power choices!

Next update, I will be uploading a special video in dedication to my relative that passed. I’m excited to show it to you guys. I think you will like it! 🙂

The next update will be on Tuesday, May 29th.

On a Personal Note…

Hello Lovelies!

I have something personal I’d like to share with you. Several months ago, a close relative passed. This relative was a well established watercolor artist and just a really cool women in general. She helped me learn and grow a great deal an artist.

After she passed, her light box was given to me as a gift. This was a piece of equipment that I’ve been saving for, for quite a while. And while I was very grateful and excited to finally have a light box, it was still difficult for me to use it.

Since the passing of this relative, I’ve been “burning” through my comic’s buffer without drawing any new pages. But last week, I finally made a new page, and I used the light box for the first time. I made page 66, which will be posted at the end of this month. This page will be dedicated to the memory of my relative. Thanks for letting me share with you.

This month is a five Tuesday month, so you will get a bonus page upload on the 29th. The next page update will be on Tuesday, May 15th.

Plot Inspiration

Hello Lovelies!

I just love drawing this crow! Hope he brings as much joy to you as he does to me. 😉

Some of you may recall me mentioning this before. As of right now, The Archer and the Squirrel’s plot is incomplete. When I started this comic, I had a fully developed plot. However, by the time I was halfway done drawing chapter one, I decided the story needed to go differently. Since then, I’ve been rewriting the story. Now the story has eight finalized chapters, but I can tell it still will have quite a few chapters after that. As I work on the plot, I find inspiration from various sources. I wanted to share with you a song, that I’ve been finding particularly inspirational at this time. Enjoy 🙂
