SmackJeeves Spotlight & Test Video

Hello Lovelies,

I’m excited to share that The Archer and the Squirrel was spotlighted on SmackJeeves this week! If you haven’t visited SmackJeeves, it’s worth a look. There are some great comics on there.

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I recently invested in a camcorder and video editing software so I can do lifestreams and film speed painting videos in the future. I wanted to practice using these new tools, so I made short video. In the video’s credits, I give a shout out to Patreons because their support made these purchases possible. Hope you enjoy the video!

The next update will be Tuesday, February 20th.

Camcorder

Hello Lovelies,

Oh my Goodness! We got through Chapter Two! Can you believe it? Hope you’re ready for Chapter Three, cuz it’s coming at you next! Also, this is a five Tuesday month, and you know what that means… Yep! A bonus page!

Also, I recently bought a Canon VIXIA HF R800 camcorder! I’ll be using this baby in the future to make speed painting videos and lifestreams. Some of this content will be made public, and some will only be for Patreons.

Your extra page will be posted on Tuesday, January 30th.

$5 Patreon Goodies!

Hello Lovelies,

I ordered another pack of acid free tissue paper for storage purposes. In addition to using the tissue to protect the original comic pages, I also use it to store the character design sheets and other miscellaneous artwork. If you’d like access to these exclusive comic goodies, they are viewable to all $5 Patreons. Every month two new artworks are added.

The next update will be on Tuesday, January 16th.

A Helpful Reader

Hello Lovelies,

A kind reader with a carful eye pointed out a text error to me a week ago. I was surprised, but grateful to have it brought to my attention. As a precaution, I asked my editor to review the comic pages again, and lo and behold there were a few more whoopsies. I have fixed them. Thank God for editors.

The next update will be on Tuesday, January 2nd.

Chapter Three Good for Launch

Hello Lovelies,

I got the second round of edits back from the editor, and I’m happy to say, we are good for launch! I’ve started painting the first pages in chapter three, and while I won’t give away any spoilers, I will say that page 57 and 58 are extra special.

The new art archival box and acid free tissue paper arrived in the mail. But silly me, it looks like I should have ordered a second pack of acid free tissue. I use the tissue to separate the original pages from one another, and this protects the artwork from discoloring over time.

The next page will be uploaded in two weeks on Tuesday, December 19th.

First Box Filled

Hello Lovelies,

Just sent the revised version of chapter three off to the editor. The first round of feedback was very helpfulI. I can’t wait to see how version 2.0 is received!

Also, I just completely filled an art archival box with completed pages. Dang! So many pages! In order to accommodate future pages, I hopped over to my favorite art supply web-store, Jerry’s Artarama, and bought a new art storage box and some acid free tissue paper.

The next page will be uploaded Tuesday, December 5th.

Important Update

Hello Lovelies,

Back in May, I proposed that if Patreon support reached $30 a month, this comic would switch from updating every other week to weekly. Since then, Patreon pledges have grown. And although we haven’t hit the $30 mark, I’m still very grateful! Thank you to all my wonderful Patreons!

This is why, it has been very difficult for me to make the following decision. I need to postpone my $30 Patreon challenge. I can still update every other Tuesday, like I’ve been doing. But for the foreseeable future, I cannot update every week. It’s not something I want to do, but it is something I must do, so I can meet the obligations of my day job.

My job requires me to acquire two certifications within a limited time frame. To get these certifications I need to pass two very difficult tests. However, between working full time and making this comic, I haven’t had much time to study. Initially, I didn’t see this as a problem, because I was getting continuously faster at making pages. However the deeper I dove into this comic creating journey, unexpected tasks kept popping up. Like realizing the original plot wasn’t that great, and then quickly studying story structure, character design, and plot, so I could rewrite a better story. Or looking back at old pages, and realizing that I REALLY needed an editor.

So even though I’ve gotten faster at certain aspects of the comic creating process, it’s still my first comic, and I’m learning. I want to make this the best story I can, and I want it to be entertaining, fun and inspiring to readers. To do this, and still keep my day job, I need to stick with updating every other week for now.

If any of you decide to lower or end your pledges, I completely understand. However, I would be extremely grateful for your continued support. Because even as a comic that updates every other week, it still takes a lot of time, thought, heart, and money to keep it going. You patronage is both an emotional and financial lifeline for me.

Thank you for your time.
